Founded in 1989, Paravent occupies a unique niche worldwide. The company supplies antique and modern screens, paints murals and undertakes a wide range of specialist paint effects.
In
1999, the founder Mark Aldbrook had his book The Folding Screen co-written with
Paravent artist, Charles Hemming, published in London by Lund
Humphries and simultaneously by Rizzoli, the pre-eminent art publishers
in New York.
In October 2006, Mark Aldbrook curated the first ever exhibition in Europe devoted to Folding Screens at the Decorative Art & Antiques Fair in London.
Paravent holds a stock of antique screens and undertakes specialist restoration both of screens and murals. The Company has worked on numerous projects worldwide. These have ranged from all the specialist and mural painting on a well-known ocean-going yacht to murals for everything from the reception areas of a private airline at Stansted Airport to a private House in the Little Boltons in London.
